Partly Facetious: Serve people or serve yourself
"What's the best way to destroy any entity?"
"And you are asking me because...?"
"Because I am sure you know, you were a bureaucrat and then went into politics..."
"Correction, I was a bureaucrat, retired, and then was granted an extension, and once that expired I became a contractual and then when another political party came to power my service to my country ended and I became a politician to continue to serve."
"For a minute, there I thought you were Musharraf in disguise....but once you mentioned contractual I knew you weren't."
"Technically Musharraf was on contract - you know after he resigned as chief of army staff and then was finally shunted out in tears from the presidency."
"To the best of my knowledge he wasn't on any contract ever."
"The best of your knowledge is not the best of knowledge per se... see my friend anyone who reaches the age of superannuation is always on contract, just like politicians - the contract is for the term of office given that the appointment can be challenged...but we serve the people."
"Serve the people or serve yourself... oh don't answer that I was being facetious. Anyway given the range and breadth of your experience in the destruction of entities...slowly but surely...what is the major tool in use?"
"Which entity are you referring to?"
"Does it matter?"
"Yes it does my friend - I mean if you are referring to the Pakistan Hockey Federation and the Pakistan Cricket Board then I would say one should go to the highest political level and not stop somewhere way down below where dedicated people from within can be promoted."
"Ah, but all our Prime Ministers have liked to be patrons in chief...and need I add to become the prime minister you take favours from so many and so many want returns with interest..."
"We are a Muslim country - not interest but profit and loss."
"Don't be facetious anyway it's a good place to park a few of those you owe to and..."
"And destroy the game..."
"Hey, there is a solution to that?"
"Change the people?"
"No, not if you made the selections that's a no-no..."
"Encourage the games at the grass root level?"
"No, too much money is needed for that, if the PM is the patron in chief then the solution for poor performance is to set up a committee...yeah, yeah a camel is a horse designed by a committee."
"Not Islamic, we prefer camels - so I have been instructed by the patrol in chief to request you to reverse it - a horse is a camel designed by a committee."
"Don't be facetious."
